Experienced Tutor K-12 Educational Tutor Available During School Hours, Nights And Some Weekend

(20)
I am seeking part-time educational or companion employment, willing to go to your house, have up to 4 students, and teach several areas K-12. I am also willing to do companion or pet therapy for both young and elderly. Master's Degree, Certified In Biology, I have stayed home since having children and tutor on nights and weekends for past few years. Now that my youngest is in pre-K, 9:00-3:30, I can have sessions during the day as well. My Master's Thesis was "Teaching Students Through Multiple Learning Strategies based on Individual's Learning Style." I believe meeting each child where he or she is not just academically but socially as well. I have tutored elementary students, middle school, and high school (including AP courses). The range has been below level to significantly above grade level. I am a coach joining with the parent or any other academic partner to encourage the child to succeed. I meet each challenge with hard work and research so that I can offer my best to each child. I have tutored CRCT Prep, SAT Prep Reading, Math K-8, Literature, AP Literature, AP Art History, and History/Social Studies and several sciences. I am currently tutoring AP Government, AP Literature and Environmental Science, as well as organization skills. In the public school system, I taught K-12, Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, Earth Science and Life Science. I am familiar with many learning styles and learning differences or disabilities. I am a Christian and my own family will always be my priority, however, I have a big heart and I am extremely loyal to my students. As far as P.E. goes, I'm an active person who enjoys playing Physical Education as well. My mom is a professional artist and retired K-12 art teacher, so I have inherited some skill and acquired knowledge in several media. What I don't know, I seek to learn, and what I learn, I long to teach. I'm looking for part-time employment. Locations will be a consideration, so I can be home when necessary.

Science Graduate Researcher Passionate About Student Success

Responds quickly
(21)
I teach hundreds of students every semester. With degrees in physics and mathematics, and minors in biology and computer science, I became an interdisciplinary science graduate student at Arizona State University (ASU), where I completed a Master's Degree in Bio-Electrical Engineering. I seek to undo the damage and negative effects students often suffer/endure from poor teaching practices. I strive to replace this distaste with a passion for the fundamentals of the subjects, just as a long line of teachers have done for me. I am constantly researching new ways, and inventing new tools, to teach. Currently, I am writing a book that will make these creative teaching ideas available and inspire further progression in education. Please contact me for professional, high-quality, state of the art tutoring. My extensive background knowledge of how language, art, and science intertwine allows me to appropriately teach children or college graduate students. Here is a brief summary of my teaching experience: 1. Private Math, Science, Language, and Writing instructor and tutor: 14+ years. 2. Over the past 14 years I've developed a specialty helping students with disabilities and learning disorders, most especially (I have extensive experience with) ADHD, but also Dyslexia, Anxiety, Autism, Spectrum Disorders, OCD, OCPD, PTSD, Vision Impairment, and others. 3. Math & Science Tutor Staff: (a) 6 months as a volunteer in a Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) tutoring center. (b) One year as an employee in CGCC tutoring center. 4. Mentor for Wildcat Middle School 8th Grade Science Classes. 5. Physics Student Mentor - I assisted incoming freshmen students with their transition to the University of Arizona (UA) physics department. 6. Physics Factory Assistant - Helped UA math professor perform exciting science demonstrations and experiments for visiting junior high students. 7. Physics Undergraduate Council - I assist with the retention of UA physics undergrads by offering support and guidance. Represent the interests and needs of these students when meeting with the department head and faculty. 8. My family used to run a summer school for kids. As a teenager, I was a (fun) math teacher for 3 months every summer! 9. I come from a long line of teachers. My mother, both of her parents, and their parents dedicated their lives to education and teaching. 10. I have also tutored foreign students (Italian, Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Spanish) in English pronunciation, writing, accent reduction, et cetera. 11. Graduate Teaching Associate: 3 years. I currently teach hundreds of undergraduate students each semester at Arizona State University, while working on a book about science education, with aspirations to become a college teacher and educator.
