Shellys Wright Choice Home Care, named after my mother, who succumbed to breast cancer, is a home care agency that provides Personal Care, Companion/Sitter Care, Skilled Nursing Services, and Live-in support. As a child, my single mother took me with her while she worked passionately as a CNAproviding quality care and companionship to those she served. Her work with seniors led to her building long-lasting relationships within the community. SWC Home Care's goal in the community is to promote healing and improve health outcomes so we, too, can build long-lasting relationships, just as my mom did. Hard work and dedication in the health care field for 17 years took me from Home Health Aide, CNA, Nurse Extern, and now RN. One of the main things I've learned throughout my career is how I do not want my patients treated. So, my team and I created a 40 hr training program called SWC boot camp. We did this because we want all of our clients to receive exceptional care, whether an employee has ten years of experience or one year of experience. We also created a written and comprehensive skills assessment requiring a 90% or above before being assigned to a client. In addition, all employees must pass a motor vehicle report, background check, and drug screen. Furthermore, all team members are First Aid, CPR, AED, Alzheimer's, and Fall Prevention certified. Our monthly in-services allow our employees to know the signs and symptoms of worsening or chronic conditions. Our clients retain their dignity and independence by providing them with choices.
