About Zachary

I have 6 years of experience as an elementary classroom teacher in grades 1-5, and I have additionally tutored and substituted for many other topics and grade levels. As an elementary teacher I am proficient will all core academic subjects, and I am comfortable teaching up to high school in math, science, and writing. My greatest strengths as an educator are making subjects more interesting by finding real-life connections for the student and discovering more challenging ways to approach the topic I have found that district curricula are often detached from students' lives and presented in uninteresting contexts with too much emphasis on rote memorization and worksheets that are often fatal to student motivation and curiosity.
