I've been a caregiver for almost 3 yrs, it all started with working part-time since I am a college student. Back then I was only interested in the criminal justice field, but after being a caregiver for some time, I also started developing a new interest, the medical field. Here, I had the opportunity to learn how to do certain activities correctly and also sharpened some of my current skills. Part of my job is to help prepared residents for the day (helping them change, brush their teeth, and style their hair) but also helping with bathing them. Some residents have a specific routine for their showers so as a caregiver I've always liked to learn their routine. Some who are still a little more independent sometimes require minimal help. Since I do have more experience with residents who have dementia, I would help distribute meals during the day but also supervised if any help was needed with feeding.
