For the past 26 years, I have worked with special needs individuals in their homes, school programs, and their adult residential facility as a DSP. I have worked in all aspects of their lives. I performed ADLs (activities for daily living), including feeding, bathing, dressing, brushing teeth, helping with physical therapies, toileting or brief changes, assisting with transfers as needed, passing or assisting with medications, getting them out in the community, taking them to doctors appointments, preparation for bed, being present during overnight shifts for safety or assistance as needed. Completed case notes, maintained medication logs, and other paperwork required for the job. Communicated well with other staff during shift changes.
