My natural ability to connect with kids both typical and special needs allowed me the opportunity to participate in a high school program called cadet teaching. This peer mentoring program encouraged the growth of social and life skills outside of the classroom. During this time my brother was also diagnosed with Autism, this influenced my family to start a non-profit organization educating and spreading awareness. These experiences played a huge impact on my decision to pursue early childhood education with an emphasis in special education.
