I have worked with various types of special needs people from all ages. Their disabilities ranged from down syndrome, autism, developmental delays, speech impediments, Fredrick's ataxia, MS, spinal cord injuries, even blindness. I drove a wide range of these kids to adults for a transportation company to and from their special needs program. Some needed assistance getting in and out of the van in which I provided assistance when necessary. I have also been a PCA for 5 years and am very familiar with care taking tasks such as the Hoyer lift, G tube and trache, urinary catheter care, toileting, hand and knee mobilizers with a passive range of motion exercises, body mechanics & transferring, as well as assistance with the gait trainer. However, I do realize everyone's needs are different. If a client has needs that I have not provided to someone before I'm always willing to learn so I can continue to provide that assistance to someone else in need.
