Experience: 4 yrs
Hello! My name is Tracy. I moved to Portland in November 2021 to care for my grandson from 4 months to 3 years of age. He's now enrolled in a Montessori preschool starting this week. I have extensive experience with children and was a Pediatric Nurse for 15 years working in a Pediatric regional hospital and emergency room. I also did home health and was a school nurse for developmentally delayed children from ages 5-18. I am very patient, gentle and loving. My style of childcare is "learning through play" with lots of positive reinforcement and encouragement. I believe in following the child's interests and encouraging creative play and exploration. Parent's preferences and routines are honored. I'm also good at redirecting behavior and setting up a solid routine individualized for each child's needs. Safety is always top of mind. Looking for a part-time or full-time nanny position. I'm available now for short term jobs with 1-2 children.

Tracy is my Mom and I’ve been incredibly fortunate that she moved here to take care of my son full-time from age 4 months to 3 years. Tracy is known as the ‘Baby Whisperer’ in our family and is hands down the most patient, skilled, and joyful caregiver I’ve ever met. With her medical background as a pediatric nurse, she has been instrumental in helping my son reach his developmental milestones and address childhood illnesses with no drama. For the first ~18 months of my son’s life I worked from home and there is no way I would have been able to continue breastfeeding that long without her skillful support. She helped my son transition seamlessly from feedings to other enrichment activities while I worked. She prepped organic food from scratch, drove him all around town to gymnastics, swimming, and music classes, and talked to him constantly, narrating everything they were doing. I have no doubt that her influence helped him learn to read before he was 2 years old. Once I returned to in-person work at the office, I appreciated the photos, videos, and detailed run-downs of the day – how much he ate, played, slept, and if he was having an off day – with the precision of a medical chart. Tracy knows how to intuit the needs of those who cannot speak for themselves, and never tires of PLAYING, which are rare skills when it comes to babies and toddlers. My son simply adores her and I have been blessed be 100% worry-free while I’m at work knowing that my little guy is in capable hands.
