About Tonie

I love reading, writing, speaking French, and traveling! In my last semester of my Master's program, I lived and worked in a suburb of Paris, teaching English to middle school and high school students for three months. It was an opportunity of a lifetime! I also taught Honors and regular English 9 and 10, and French 1 in a high school in Ohio. No matter what subject I am teaching, I believe content needs to be relatable and relevant to the students' lives, and learning strategies need to be interactive, varied, and fun! I have tutored individual students in the past in the areas of beginning French, vocabulary building, essay writing, and resume creation. The classroom setting can be quite judgmental and stressful. Students need to feel that their weaknesses can be addressed and improved upon in a safe setting, free from peer judgment. This is one of the many reasons why I find one-on-one or small group tutoring particularly rewarding.
