As a full time care giver in eldercare, teaching and nanny ive worked in the caregiving field for approximately 30 years. Each situation has been unique and has varied greatly with clients needs. My experience runs the full spectrum from a basic companion, reading , shopping, and friendship to the more skilled personal care of both medical needs and dementias specific requirments. My first experiences really started with my blind grandmother who lived with my family during my secondary school years. As time passed I choose to work with senoirs throughout my college years, both in their home and in care homes. The great appreciation shown by these lovely clients only served to increase my love of older people and their unique needs. As I myself have aged my experience has continued both as a profession and in my personal life, My husband of almost 40 yrs is now blind and disabled. Tina took care of my mother for a little over a year. My mother had stage 7 Alzheimer's and was under hospice care the whole time. Tina cared for her 3 days a week for 7 hours a day. She was always arrived early. She was always pleasant, willing to please and accommodating. She was kind and very caring with my mom and very understanding of the situation for the family. She did whatever she could to keep my mother clean and calm and was very cautious with her as things progressed. I never had to worry about anything with Tina. She was a true blessing for mom to have someone like Tina to care for her at the end of her life. She was a blessing for me as well.
