I am a mom of 6 (5 at home). Did foster care for 9 years. 2 of my 6 kids were adopted. My 9 and 10-year-old boys are both autistic (9 yr old-still mostly non-verbal and not toilet trained). My youngest was a preemie who had nine hospital stays her first year-she is 6 now. Took care of a G-tube dependent, non-verbal, partially deaf 6-year-old full time for a year as a foster placement. Taken care of multiple withdrawing infants while in the fostering world, so I have the medically fragile experience. I was a stay at home mom most of my adult life. All my kids are school aged but lack of job experience has made it difficult to start a career at 36. Also with having 2 special needs kids, it makes things a little harder because I need to be available just in case. Ideally trying to find something that works around my kids school schedule as I'm a single mom (only living parent) so my only help is my almost 17-year-old.
