I am writing to express my interest in a working children with autism. I have always known that I wanted to be an educator, then I was able to have had the opportunity to Student Teach, and personally able to work with students at diverse functional levels. While student teaching, I worked with autistic children between the ages of 5-7 years old, and out of a desire for fuller exposure, I visited other autistic classrooms in which the students ranged up to the age of 21. I subsequently worked with severely mentally disabled and Down syndrome adolescents. It took an enormous amount of patience but every little breakthrough was worth its weight in gold. I believe that my background in education and the varied teaching experiences that I have had make me well qualified for a position at your school. I would be an asset because I am a responsible, self-motivated person who is willing to work hard to succeed. I feel that I have a gift to reach others and to help them accomplish their goals and I am confident that I can perform the job effectively.
