Ms. Theresa R. was employed by me as a nanny from January 1997 to September 2008. As you may gather from the fact that she worked for us for almost 12 years, we thought very highly of her. She cared for our three children from the time I went back to work after our first was born until our last was in full-day school. She was the only nanny we ever hired or employed. Ms. R. was an excellent employee and an excellent nanny. As a nanny she used her deep knowledge of normal developmental stages to effectively guide each child at each stage to appropriate behavior. She adapted herself to my preferences and respectfully taught me what I needed to know about parenting each stage. Ms. R. is fluent in baby and toddler speech, so the children felt heard and understood. She has superb judgment and always kept the children s safety foremost in her mind. She was the children s first teacher, and they each went to their first day of school ahead of the teacher s expectations. She read to the children frequently, often bringing stacks of children s books from her home. She is extraordinarily patient and generous. Finally, she performed her house-keeping tasks (children s laundry, cleaning, tidying, meal preparation, meal clean-up) independently and effectively. Ms. R. has excellent general employee skills, as well. She is extremely reliable: She came on-time, regardless of weather, minor illnesses, power outages, family stresses. She has a steady, pleasant disposition. Her conduct was always professional, in the home, out on errands, or in the neighborhood. She took her role as our ambassador in the community very seriously. Ms. R. is an excellent driver with her own reliable transportation. It was a real pleasure to ride as her passenger. Ms. R. is hard-working and self-motivated. When the children were all in school, she chose and executed her own projects or took care of projects I had asked her to do. Finally, Ms. R. was extremely trust-worthy, handling the checks and cash I gave her for errands very responsibly. Since she has stopped working for us, Ms. R. has continued to be very dear to our family. She joins us for important events, visits with us at holidays, and stays in contact, sharing news of her family and ours. Her connection to the children and to us is genuine and lasting. As you can see by this letter, we were extremely satisfied with Ms. R. as an employee. I give her my highest recommendation.
