I have always enjoyed caring for diverse families. I have done so since I was 9 years old. Presently, I work at a nationally accredited childcare center that was once an arc, we still strive to provide care for children with special needs within the community. I also worked with early steps (early intervention for birth to 3 years old) for about two years. I feel that all children, no matter their ability, can learn, but it takes a patient person who is willing to understand, not only their challenges, but also their strengths. I have provided respite in the past for families in need through state programs. Through Care.com, I have also cared for a few families, from out of town, who have entrusted me with their children with special needs. I have worked at the same childcare center for the last 16 years, which is where I gained most of my hands-on knowledge. I have also taken many workshops on various topics centered around children with special needs.
