I have over four years of experience caring for the elderly. I began by caring for my grandmother with aphasia and mobility issues (paid position through her hospice care home). I was responsible for helping her get dressed, assisting her with eating, communicating with her through various methods to understand her wants and needs, administering daily medication, etc. I then went on to care for my grandpa who had dementia. I was fully responsible for providing daily reminders, administering daily medications, scheduling doctor's appointments and assisting him while at the appointments, helping soothe and comfort him during episodes, providing companionship by reading to him, playing his favorite card games, having conversations on all of his favorite topics, helping him maneuver around the home by walking alongside him while he used his walker, preparing meals for him, doing his laundry and keeping his room tidy, assisting with simple errands that he still wanted to partake in, etc.
