My name is Tariq and I am a Direct Support Professional. I have five years plus experience working in the field and I love my what I do. I've worked both residential as well as day habilitation. I first start working with the developmental disabled when I live in New York. I began with the United Cerebral Palsy of New York City. There I was responsible for assisting with bathing, assisting with feeding, and also engaging the participant in various activities to promote social skills. I also transported individuals to community outings, family visits, and medical appointments. I was responsible for documentation on progressing Individual support plans as well as daily experience. I was AMAP certified so that allowed me to administer medications as needed. There is when I came to the conclusion that this is what I wanted to as a career. I loved just to do something as put a smile on someone's face. I moved to Georgia and I was working in a gym. I thought to myself I needed to get back in the field . I apply for and had to honor of working Jewish Family and Career Services as a direct support professional. I worked there for a year and half then went over to another organization that provides similar services. I enjoy my job I believe this is what I am here to do.
