About Tara

I have over 10 years experience working with youth in non profit settings, at the Boys and Girls Club and various SUN schools throughout Portland, OR. I was a private tutor for two English Language Learners for two years, ages 6-9. I respect my students as learners and as individuals. It's important for me to understand their learning style and strive to provide multiple approaches to accommodate the learner. I have experience working with youth from ages 5-18. My background in Applied Linguistics offers me a unique lens, focusing on the assets not the deficits of students. I am also an experienced child care provider, English language instructor and tutor. I have held a job for the last 18 years working in hospitality, childcare, non profit sector, retail, farming, and now I own a small cookie business. I have an excellent work ethic and I am dedicated to providing quality work.
