My name is Tara, I am interested in being a care taker and support person for a family with special needs. I have great patience and compassion for others as well as an ability to relate well with people of all ages. I have a lot of experience with children. I have Nannied for years and worked as a preschool teacher. I've also raised two children of my own. I do have several friends that have children with different degrees of ASD and Down Syndrome that I have spent time with and I have a good understanding of how to handle situations such as creating schedules the child can rely on. Keeping a safe and relaxing space, staying calm and centered, rewarding and supporting positive behavior, having clear statements that don't confuse, etc. I am open to any new study or techniques that help also. I am glad to help with organizing, appointments, school work, errands, going for walks and whatever is helpful to your family and the family member I will be care taking.
