I am a Special Educator in the public school system. I have had almost 10 years of teaching children with mild to severe cognitive disabilities. In my current position, I participate with taking my students out into the community to learn their daily living skills, which is a crucial part in order for these individuals to become independent. I am trained in administering medications and even though I am not a certified CNA, working in the school system with these children has helped me learn and perform a lot of the CNA job duties that these children require. I have worked with this special population since I was 14 years of age. I started out working in a summer camp for special needs children and desired to pursue this once I became an undergraduate in college. At this time I am looking to resign from my current situation to pursue my masters in counseling and development. I would like to obtain employment within this field because of the love I have for these kids.
