About Susan

I have raised four sons, all of whom have gone to college. I am a college graduate with degrees in Adolescent Education and English. I have been a literacy volunteer as well as an Odyssey of the Mind coach. I have worked as a tutor for both adults and children. Now, with an empty nest, I find that I miss regular interaction with youth and feel that childcare and tutoring can be very fulfilling. I strongly believe in creative play. I raised my children with very little television and encouraged a love for reading and sports. Active play is very important. The local parks and library should be part of a child's regular activities. I have assisted with the ASVAB, SAT, ACT and GED. I have an understanding of today's common core curriculum. I love working with children, especially teaching. I have interesting, non-traditional experiences. For instance, I traveled to Suriname, to be an assistant producer of a children's play, a charitable endeavor. I have chosen not to work as a teacher, so I may control my schedule. I love to travel.
