Over the past 12 years I have taught and assisted children with various special needs in classroom settings from elementary through high school. I have been employed for the last year caring for an 11-year-old girl with autism. This job is sadly coming to a close and I am looking for my next opportunity. I started as a teacher's aid and medical aid in a special needs class of 3rd to 5th graders with a range of disabilities including down syndrome, autism and cerebral palsy. In this school I created a music enrichment program, assisted the teacher in providing lessons, administered medicine and worked with behavioral issues. My music enrichment program brought out forms of communication for the children that they did not previously have. Throughout my entire working career, it is this work that I am most passionate about. Providing children with different opportunities to explore and learn about their world is a joy and I hope to journey forward with this work.

Stephanie was a respite worker for my son with special needs during the summer and school breaks for many years. He and his typically developing sister always looked forward to visits from Stephanie which allowed my husband and I to go out. Stephanie always focused on making the time spent with our kids fun and full of varied activities. Her background as a school aide for students with special needs was a big plus. Her care, knowledge of behaviors and consideration for her students was evident when visiting my son's classroom. She exhibited the same care at our home. She not only provided us with much needed respite but provided care for my son which made his life more meaningful and enjoyable! My son liked listening to her read stories, they did art projects, and she would encourage him to take part in and play games. My daughter appreciated how fun and compassionate she was toward her while staying focused on her brother. I highly recommend Stephanie!
