Hi there! My name is Stephanie & I decided to include pieces of the nursing philosophy I wrote my senior semester. What I Know For Sure .. a column written by Oprah Winfrey that is always found on last page of her magazine in every issue is my mental candy. I have conversations with myself inside my head that parallel many of her thoughts on what most matters in life, how we find joy and give joy to others, and reflections on gratitude & possibility. Just as clear as everyone remembers where they were on 9/11, I too remember where I was when I received a diagnosis of globular carcinoma of the breast. A simple outpatient cosmetic procedure for what was thought to be removal of a cyst was in fact, the gift of clarity in disguise which has drawn me nearer to both the people who bring meaning and fulfillment to my life and helped me to recognize the call to serve. Challenge changes you. Adversity, resistance and pain build strength and character when you choose to see it as such.
