Hi! I used to take care of my grandparents, my grandfather had dementia / alzheimer, it started slowly for him but it was a very difficult experience in which we had to managed. He was a bed bound patient so I had to learn how to bath him in bed and everything, he passed away 7 months later because he forgot to breathe. My grandmother was a strong women she passed away 5 months ago. She had lung cancer which was werid because she never spoked & noone in the household either. But they gave us 6 months with her and we enjoyed as much of her pure love as we could. Once the people you love are gone the only thing left is the memories. My connection with them is helping other elderly with my experience I had with my grandparents. You need to be very patience, compassionate, caring and loving with them. We have to remember that their life changed from being independent to depending on someone and its hard for them but also let them know & understand they could do with a little help.
