About Sophie

I recently finished two years of service with Americorps through City Year San Jose. Through this year of service I had the opportunity to work in schools in the Alum Rock district: I was in the classroom helping students and sporting the teachers much like a paraeducator, as well as creating small group tutoring spaces for at risk learners. As a City Year ACM, I was also responsible for planning and facilitating my own afterschool class with roughly 25 students. Not only did I teach lessons in Math, English, Science, History, and Reading, we also did service learning projects, art, theatre, dance, social-emotional learning, wellness and more. My amazing team of ACM's also worked together to plan fun events for our students and get to know them in meaningful ways in order to fully support their growth! During my first year I worked primarily with elementary school students, and my second year was with middle school students. So I am happy to work with any range of kiddos!
