Hello, my name is Sophia and I have been babysitting/nannying for over 10 year! My mom is a special needs teacher in district 34, and I have years of experience going in to help with her students. Additionally, I was a part of a high school class that allowed me to work one-on-one with a teenager who had Down syndrome for one period every school day. I also have experiences watching a toddler with severe speech delays (as well as high-functioning autism), and am comfortable with non-verbal communication, as well as reading signs/body language. I currently work for a family with a child that has mental/cognitive delays, and has been diagnosed with severe ADD/ADHD. Since August, I have spent most every M-F with her from 3:30-7:30 at night. My experience with kids on the spectrum or that have mental/physical disabilities is truly vast. It's something I have been somewhat immersed in since I was child.
