I've had 20 years of experience in nannying and babysitting kids from infants to young teens well as many years of being an older sister. I've taken Child Development, Arts and Environmental Studies courses and am certified in child CPR and First Aid. I love babies and toddlers and I am more than happy to get kids exploring outdoors, eating healthfully and using all of their senses to learn about the world. Your little one will always be encouraged to be independent and communicate thoughtfully and compassionately. As far as parenting type goes I'd like to find a family that shares my child-rearing philosophies: encourage adventure and inquisitiveness; allow freedom and creativity; foster respect for elders and others; involvement in a range of activities like dancing, rock climbing, finding edible plants, reading, and creating music. In my free time I'm hiking, at the beach, doing yoga and/or brainstorming ways to help the planet. Available for weekday hours, date nights and weekends!

We hired Sonya a little over 2 months ago to care for my 10 month old daughter, and we couldn't be happier. She is a perfect fit for my daughter and our family. Sonya immediately had a connection with my daughter from the beginning, and the two of them have a really awesome mutual adoration for each other. Sonya is very observant and clued-in, and comes up with fun and creative ways to play and facilitate learning. She's very much a natural when it comes to childcare, we feel very lucky to have found her.
