About Simon

My name is Simon and I'm a 5th grade teacher at Black Pine Circle School, simultaneously pursuing a masters degree in education. In addition to three years of classroom experience, I have been tutoring students off and on for roughly seven years. My tutoring background crosses a wide range of ages, subjects, and learning styles, including students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and other learning differences. I am always excited to integrate play-based learning, as well as student-specific interests to help content feel as engaging and real-world as possible. Because of my background in teaching and education theory, I am able to scaffold the tutoring experience based on your student's unique learning needs (ex. by integrating tactile tools, visual aids, movement, artistic expression, gamification, etc). I strongly believe in the importance of building a positive, curious, and confident learner identity, centering creativity and critical thinking. I look forward to working with you!
