About Sierra

Sierra seemed like she was going to be a wonderful fit to help care for our infant daughter. She was kind and personable, and we "hit it off" from the start of our contact. she emphasized wanting to find a family with really good communication, and we couldn't agree more when it came to finding a Nanny. Sierra was finishing her obligation to another family, and we respected and admired that about her. I even had the opportunity to speak with the mother of her current family. We offered Sierra a full-time job, worked out a verbal pay agreement, and as my husband and I understand, Sierra accepted the job. In fact, from our communication, she seemed really excited about it. The plan to start was a week after she would be finishing her current obligation. She ended up filling in on a Friday for us for a few hours, so we had the opportunity to meet her in person, and she got to have some time with our daughter before her "first day." She wasn't quite as engaged as we would have hoped, but we still felt confident that she would keep our child safe, fed, and dry. The day before her first planned day, I sent her a text to confirm that she was still tracking to begin the next day. I never heard any word, but it was a Sunday, so I wanted to respect her personal time. Monday came. 0700 passed (her start time.) 0800 passed. No Sierra. I called and texted her, but no response. I.was concerned as to whether or not she was okay. She had almost an hour drive to our house, so I wanted to make sure she hadn't been in an accident or anything. Finally, I contacted her previous employer to see if their needs had changed, and if perhaps Sierra was staying with them. The mother reported that when they parted ways at the end of their job, she was under the understanding that Sierra had accepted a job as a dental assistant at an office in HHI. We are thrilled for her, since she mentioned previous interest in this area. However, it would have been appreciated if she had communicated this decision with us so that we could have continued our search. Instead, no communication was ever exchanged, and she left my husband high and dry on her planned first day of work. We still have not heard from Sierra and wish her well.
