About Shayna

Hi, my name is Shayna, I'm 21 years old and currently finishing up my Nursing Assistant coursework at PVCC and excited to take the board examination soon. I'm pursuing a career in nursing and will be taking my last few prerequisite classes this summer and/or fall. I have already had several clinical experiences caretaking in hospital and nursing home settings, as well as my extensive background working with kids. My favorite job that I have had in the past was as a summer camp counselor for 2 years, where I was responsible for a group of about 12 middle-school age girls for a month at a time. I believe in allowing the kids to lead in what they want to do, if they need to be entertained I can come up with activities on the fly or allow them time to rest if needed. I have also babysat in the past for 2 elementary-age children in which I would pick them up after school and assist with homework and after-school activities until the parents returned from work.
