I started teaching as a weekend school teacher at 15 years old for some SSL hours at my local elementary school and graduated to become a lead teacher in a few after-school programs in the DCPS system. I eventually became a literacy interventionist through Americorps, where I gained my well-rounded knowledge of what it means to work with kids of different ages and life experiences. I have organic retail and dining management experience, as well! I'm currently in school to be a wedding planner to explore my possibilities. Shaymah is a wonderful a babysitter for my 4 & 1 year old. She babysits my children while I work from home and has been working with us for almost 6 months. Shaymah is extremely professional, punctual, communicative, and has great instincts when it comes to childcare. She's kind and gentle with my kids and can also be silly with them, which they love. She always makes sure to incorporate a variety of activities into their day like outdoor time, reading, and independent play time. Shaymah even spends her own time researching and gathering supplies to do fun activities like experiments, baking, and art. My children love the time they spend with Shaymah and I'm reassured knowing I can focus on my work while my kids are getting great care.
