About Shayana

My name is Shayana, an enthusiastic and passionate English tutor and junior at NYU. I love tutoring because I love watching students develop their own voice and be empowered by writing and the power of language. I began working in tutoring when I was 17, starting with essay editing then going into helping students with essay writing from scratch. Essay writing is my specialty, but I am strong in test prep in English and reading comprehension. In my spare time, I like to walk dogs in the city, read and write poetry, practice yoga, and explore museums I am a 3. 9 GPA at English major Creative Writing minor and plan on pursuing a career in education once I have finished undergrad. My skills include personalization based on the students needs, an understanding of current middle/high school curriculums, and patience and empathy for students who are unenthusiastic about the writing process-- I always look to find a way to make the process exciting and interesting for them!
