My sister, K, is 18 years old and has Down Syndrome. The day she was born was the day my life changed forever, because she is a blessing and has made me a better person. I have been helping out with her ever since I was little and volunteering at the special Olympics, in her classroom, and helping out with her daily activities. I have been walking for MDSC at their annual Buddy Walk for 10+ years and started my own team 4 years ago; personally raising over $10, 000. I was a full-time nanny for a boy with Autism for 7 years until I moved out of state, but I still keep in contact and visit when I can. I have been a dance coach for 6+ years and have coached children with special needs. I was in Best Buddies in high school and looked forward to hanging with the Buddies every day. Working with children with special needs is a passion of mine because I love making a difference and feeling like I am genuinely helping people become the best versions of themselves.
