We give Shashonna J our highest recommendation. She cared for our 98-year-old father for 8 months, from Jully 2024, until his recent passing. She covered alternate weekends for us, when family could not visit. We were incredibly fortunate to have hired her. She provided vigilant, tender care, especially when he was bed-bound. She has a professional yet gentle manner and spoke kindly and clearly to him. He was still lucid, still mentally sharp, with particular likes and dislikes, although he couldn’t see or hear too well. Especially at the end, it was important that his caregivers engaged him, talked to him, offered him choices whenever possible as they tended to his needs. Shashonna was perfect with him in this regard. She talked with him, kept him entertained with his favorite TV shows, and music he liked and with her description about the birds we always fed outside his window. We trusted her totally with his care as family does not live locally. Communication with us was via a joint text stream. She communicated clearly, arrived on time, and gave us a thorough summary at the end of each weekend. She also was alert to any emerging health issues. We had complete confidence in her and never worried about Dad when he was in her care. We can summarize her duties as follows: Bedbound bathing, toileting, wound care, administering medicine and nebulizer treatment, preparing simple meals, feeding our Dad, attending to his personal hygiene.
