About Shaquela

Hello families ! My name is Shaquela, but I go by Shay. I am a 28-year-old mother and elementary school teacher. Besides being a mother for 6 years, I have had first hand experience with children for a couple years now. I first started tutoring as an afterschool job with kids between kindergarten and 2nd grade, which I did for 2 years. While in college to receive my education degree, I was a tutor with a company called Cognitutor, which I did for 2 years as well. After earning my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, I was a reading interventionists for one year, dealing with 3rd to 5th grade. I then proceeded to be a VPK assistant teacher over that summer until I landed an actual teaching job. I taught 5th grade for one year. I am currently a 3rd grade teacher for the past 2 years, while still doing tutoring in the evenings. My passion working with children is intense. I love being a mom, and I feel as though teaching and being a parent goes hand in hand.
