About Shannon

I am a former nanny. I was with my family for 12 years. The children are now teenagers so I was no longer needed. I have started to transition into senior care. I have a little over a year of paid experience. All of my previous experience has been through taking care of family members (cancer) and friends. Some had aide/hospice care as well and I paid attention and learned quite a bit. My aunt was diagnosed with dementia about a year ago. I go and see her once or twice week. I do understand how hard it is to see a loved one suffer with this disease. I currently work for a man in his 80's who has the start of dementia. My duties include medications, cooking, housekeeping, run errands, grocery shopping, schedule/take to appointments, laundry and change bedding. I have helped with bathing and dressing as well. I am with him in the mornings and then go back to give him dinner. I also work as a bartender on the weekends. I am currently looking for afternoon hours.
