About Sewann

I have three years experience teaching third and fourth grade math, grammar, and reading. I also have two years of private tutoring 7th and 8th grade math and science. My strategy for introducing math concepts to students is to do so using several modalities then allowing each student to decide which strategy is best suits them, then adjusting accordingly. With grammar and reading, I use a more conversational approach by incorporating their personal experiences into the lesson to help them connect with the material. I help students develop their metacognitive skills by having them explain an/or demonstrate their approach and reasoning. I ask open-ended questions and use no stakes assessments to check for understanding. I have experience using Pearson Investigations Math Curriculum and Sadlier Grammar Tools and several online programs.
