I have 40 years of experience as a Nurse and Personal Caregiver. My experience working in a major teaching hospital as a Licensed Vocational Nurse as well as being a Home Health nurse has given me valuable skills and knowledge that I use every day with my clients. My specialty is Seniors. I have taken care of a quadriplegic for 12 years, senior Hospice clients until end of life. Experience with Diabetics, cardiac clients, Alzheimer's, feeding tubes, medications including injections, incontinent care, Hoyer lift, catheters, wound care and socially engaging outside of home. Can transport to appointments, outings. I love pets and can perform other tasks as needed in the home. I am always professional and respect my client's privacy. Families of my patients have described me as being gentle, a positive influence, committed and always willing to be there when needed. Sergio took care of my husband during the last 15 months of his life. During this time, he took him out for walks, to appointments, managed medicine, provided meals, and provided companionship. As time went on and my husband became less able, he helped in many more ways – bathing, dressing, eating, etc. He was with him until the end by which time Sergio had become such a friend to him at a time when his life was fairly limited in contacts. I cannot speak highly enough of Sergio. He is kind and caring, thoughtful, smart, knowledgeable, reliable, careful, etc. He listens and understands people and he knows what they want; how they are feeling; and what they need at the moment. He does not rush people who may be slow in moving and responding which is so important for people who have slowed down from what they once could do. He is very respectful in a most caring way. These characteristics of Sergio helped make my husband’s last few months a positive time. I am amazed by how much Sergio knows about medications. He was able to manage, monitor, and order at least 15 meds which were changing all the time. He would research every new med, its interactions with others, and potential side effects. He would then organize them for the week. This was so helpful when so many medications are being prescribed. Sergio also has lots of hands on nursing skills. He is excellent at taking care of wounds and using machines such as oxygen or nebulizers. He helped us essentially run a one patient nursing home with so excellent care for a couple of months. Most of all, Sergio is a wonderful human being to work with. He made life and my husband’s death so much better for my husband and our family. We now think of him as family. We were lucky to have met Sergio at the time we needed help, without him our last months with my husband would have been very difficult.
