It is important for our children with selective abilities to have someone trained to handle and entertain them. Growing up with a sister diagnosed with a profound hearing loss at birth, I've known only one way to treat a child. This way is to encourage them to believe not only in themselves but that there is nothing holding them back. To push them to work hard for what they want, even if it may be harder for them than it might be for an average child. I also know how important it is to be mindful of a child's needs and their specific emotions, so we can create the best child to mentor relationship that is possible.
