Currently, I am a special educator at a private specialty day school at the New England Center for Children in Southborough, MA, where I teach students ages 6-12 years old primarily with autism as well as other pairing disabilities. Besides this work experience, I grew up having an older and younger sibling both diagnosed with autism. With that being said, I have been a personal care assistant and skill trainer for both of my siblings. Because of my unique upbringing as a sibling of individuals with a disability, I feel as though I have a deeper understanding as to what it means to provide meaningful experiences to those with special needs (whether it be academically or generally). My exposure to special needs through personal and work-related experiences make me believe that providing for those with disabilities is my life calling. Overall, no matter your age, gender, race, ability/disability, everyone deserves equality in all aspects of life, especially those with disabilities.
