My name is Sarah. I was a special education teacher for 20 years and I have been thoroughly trained in safe transfers as well as equipment used to assist with transfers. The first 10 years of my career I worked at a school that serves students aged 3-21 who have significant intellectual, physical, medical, and communication needs. It was a hard job, but the joy I got from helping these students gain independence drove me. The 2 things I found most important were maintaining student's dignity while promoting as much independence as possible. I moved on from that career and found a job on care. com, caring for a senior who was at the end of his life. It was such a pleasure to see the relief in his family members, as well as in him. A lot of dignity was restored to him when they hired me! Overall, I'm an empathetic caregiver, I bring an aura of lightheartedness and positivity, and I can assist with problem solving everyday obstacles that may arise. I also enjoy working with pets!
