About Sarah

My first experience as a senior caregiver was for my mother who was bedridden. My dad was her only support. I would sit with her and we would look through photo albums, talk about different topics and watch the Price is Right, her favorite show. Other responsibilities included helping her get up in the morning, getting her in the shower, picking out her clothes and helping her get dressed. I would make sure she took her medication each day on schedule, provided snacks as needed, assisted her to the restroom, cooked meals and did the shopping and house cleaning. In 2018, I took a CNA class and although I have not worked as a senior caregiver yet, I have been working as a nanny on Care. com for 9 years. Just as my primary responsibility as a nanny is to be a companion and give the special attention needed, the job also requires a lot of skills and knowledge incredibly important for working in senior care.
