To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to highly recommend Sandra M. as a senior caregiver. Sandra was the primary caregiver for my parents, serving them for 2 years (Feb. 2022 – March 2024). When my parents retired to Seabrook Island, they hoped to spend their last days living in their home. Primarily due to Sandra’s diligent love and care, their wishes were thankfully met. Sandra is experienced, hard-working, compassionate, smart, and dependable. She has a special gift of intuition and knows how to care for the elderly. My dad passed away in June 2023, at the age 90. He had the most demanding medical needs, including management of a feeding machine for his daily food and water. Sandra managed his feedings, and was also responsible for administering his medications, changing his ostomy bag, and assisting him with showering/dressing. When my dad had a dramatic weight loss, Sandra quickly learned how to give bolus feedings and played a critical role in him gaining weight. Sandra also provided the necessary wound care when my dad had several minor procedures, as well as basil skin cancer on his leg. As my dad’s health worsened, her position evolved into supervising and scheduling the team of caregivers we needed to hire. My dad was diagnosed with congestive heart failure at the end of his life. Sandra lovingly administered breathing treatments to help ease his difficulty. Sandra cared for my dad as if he were her own father and stayed close by his side in his final days. As for my mom, she passed away March 2024 at the age 90. She was initially resistant to having a caregiver because “we don’t the help.” But Sandra quickly won her over by being loving and kind, yet firm when necessary. Early on, my mom fell and was restricted to a wheelchair. Sandra patiently assisted my mom with bathroom responsibilities and general physical therapy until she recovered. Sandra helped mom’s venous leg ulcers heal by consistent wound care and compression sock management. When my mom’s heath worsened after my dad’s death, Sandra gave my mom daily sponge baths and cared for her occasional bed sores. She also cleaned and disinfected my mom’s legs to manage her cellulitis. She not only provided medical assistance to my mom, but also provided emotional encouragement as my mom was very lonely. Overall, Sandra was deeply loved by my mom and was truly her best friend. Besides caregiving, Sandra also performed many other duties including: housekeeping, laundry, running errands, paying bills, scheduling doctor’s appointments, cooking light meals and walking the dog. There are not enough words to describe what a gift and blessing Sandra has been these last 2 years. She was not just an employee, but also a part of our family. I whole-heartedly recommend Sandra and know your family will be blessed to have her as a caregiver!
