My younger brother who's 16 is on the autism spectrum, and he inspired me to begin working for a direct support professional group at the age of 18. I have had employment with a company back in Indiana for 5 years now, working with kids with varying abilities from the ages of 4 years old through 28 years old. I believe caring for children and young adults with special needs involves a great deal of responsibility; however, it is also one of the most rewarding and satisfying jobs that I have had to date. I think of each person that I care for in the same way that I think of my brother and I consider it a great privilege to be entrusted to take care of these kids and young adults!
