I presently have 10+ years experience working with clients who have cognitive issues as well as those who do not. Dementia, Alhzeimer's, and those whom are Developmentally Disabled. This Special & Unique group of people are a class of their own. Warm, articulate, happy and humorous, some of their many attributes. I have also learned that they can be challenging. Like you and I, they need a balance, mentally, spiritually and emotionally; they are not exempt. When working with the disabled in the past; I have strongly reinforced-these traits, and have incorporated a structure, providing a safe and healthy environment which ultimately directed each on a path were they independently formed an agenda, promoting growth and stability in each toward achieving their personal goals. And for some, enhancing their quality of life and wellness.
