I have four years of experience providing compassionate home health care to seniors with mobility and memory issues. Prior to this, I worked for one year as a certified nursing assistant at a local hospital, where my patients liked my care so much that they asked me to care for them at home after leaving the hospital. My services include bathing, dressing, assisting with movement and exercise (according to the patient's abilities), healthy meal preparation and light cleaning/housework, all of which I provide for my patients with the same level of care that I would provide to a member of my own family. I have my own car which I can use to provide transportation to appointments and shop for groceries or pick up medications. My Virginia state certification as a nursing assistant is valid and up to date. I can provide references from previous patients and their family members upon request.

Mrs. Ruth C. has provided exceptional home care for my wife, Ruby, for the past two years. Ruby had a burst brain aneurysm and also a stroke. She was in a coma for two weeks, in the ICU for two months, and then a skilled nursing facility for an additional two and a half months. After almost 5 months I got Ruby back home. She had to be assisted to get in and out of bed, to walk, had almost no mobility. Ruby had a tracheostomy that had just been closed, had a feeding tube, and has global aphasias which makes communicating with Ruby a real challenge. She was incontinent, needed assistance to eat again, and was on a multitude of prescribed medications many of which had to be crushed prior to taking. I searched Care.Com for a full-time care provider for Ruby so I could go back to work. After a number of interviews, I found Ruth. Prior to hiring Ruth, she came for a day to watch Ruby to determine if it was going to be a good fit. It turned out to be an exceptional fit. Ruth cares deeply for her patient. She ensures Ruby eats well, administers her medications, is immaculately bathed and dressed, gives her the motivation and oversight to exercise daily, and facilitates weekly social interactions/visits from Ruby's friends/neighbors. There is nothing I have to be concerned about when Ruby is under Ruth's care. After two years under Ruth's care, Ruby has full mobility, going up and down our stairs. She eats on her own and has no incontinent issues. Though she still has aphasia, she continues to improve her speaking. Communication has steadily improved. Her recovery has been nothing short of a miracle and I attribute her recovery to the wonderful care that Ruth provides. I am retiring from work and will be home to care for Ruby full time. It is with a heavy heart that Ruby and I are ending the full-time care that Ruth has provided the past two years. I can't imagine somebody providing care better than Ruth. Ruth is truly an exceptional care provider, and I recommend her with the highest enthusiasm and confidence.
