I worked at the Binational Autism Committee: a San Diego- Tijuana association that focused on bringing medical conferences and aid to both side s of the border. My job was to develop workshops for children with autism, their siblings, and other family members to create a safe space and interactive relationships. My younger brother was diagnosed with autism from an early age, which became my first exposure to behavioral and speech therapy, as well as the use of PECS to create communication.
