I've been a skills trainer for people with disabilities for the last 17 years. When not supporting those with special needs I'm usually running, reading, and recording music. Much of what I do is creating structure for my clients, empowering them by giving them choices and teaching/discussing natural consequences of decision making. I also provide supports for social anxiety and giving redirects for inappropriate behavior. For skills training, it's hygiene, budgeting/counting money, aide in pursuing romantic interests (very popular), car awareness on busy streets and parking lots, making healthy diet choices, and basic social interaction out in the community. Skills I don't provide at this time: shower/bathroom supports and job coaching.
