About River

I am a childcare provider looking for a family(s) to work with during the summer and next fall! During the school year I work as a para educator in a special education classroom. I bring 5 years of childcare experience, working with children of varying abilities between the ages of 0-14. As an older brother to a person with autism, I grew up in a community of differently abled people and am passionate in supporting families who share that identity. I sign ASL at an intermediate level and am continuing my education to gain fluency. I am obtaining my lifeguard certification as well, during the last week of the summer I volunteer at a summer camp for LGBTQ youth. I have a BS in Psych and am first aid certified. It's important to me to actively engage with the kids I work with, following their lead in play and going on adventures when appropriate. While I happily follow routines and believe in the power of a consistent schedule, I also want to make sure that the kids I work with have fun!
