About Renate

I was born and raised in Germany where I graduated college with a degree in Early Childhood Education. My husband's job as a stained glass artist brought our family to the United States in 1987. When my children were in elementary school I decided it was time to go back to work. Since 1991 I have been working in early childhood programs in Fort Myers and San Diego, mainly as a director of national accredited programs. In 2021 I retired early and my husband and I traveled for a while through Europe. When we came back to the US we fell in love with the Appalachian Mountains and we bought a house here in Ellijay. After 3 years of being retired I miss working and being with the children. Creating a nurturing environment that will foster curiosity and independent thinking has always been one of my most important cornerstones.
