I've been a sitter since age 11 (1978), as a live-in nanny, a FT live-out nanny, and hired a live-in nanny, so I understand it from both sides. I also cared for my great grandmother for many years. Housewife many years, then a single mother to 4 children, which I homeschooled. I worked FT for an Orthodox Jewish family, cared for their infant, toddler, and 11 yo, cleaned, cooked kosher. Early 90's: Cleaning business in the Hollywood Hills. I focused on weekly clients acquired through word of mouth. Late 90's: Gal Friday for David Campbell, Raven Kane & daughter Alyssa, then an aspiring figure skater - drove her all over the 5 counties to the various rinks for training, cooking, shopping, errands. I cook from scratch, bake, and ferment krauts, pickles, salsas, and kefir. Class A commercial drivers license, InstaCart Shopper, clean driving record. My mother raised animals for a living. I have extensive experience caring for gerbils, dogs, cats and birds.
